Receptive language is the ability to understand words and language.

• Does he/she struggle to get their meaning across to you?

Expressive language is the use of words, sentences, gestures, and writing to convert meaning and messages to others. 

• Does your he/she have difficulty naming items and objects​?

• Does he/she have limited vocabulary or not putting words together (e..g I want more)

• If the answer is "yes", your child couple at risk for expressive language delay.
